THE RITE6/5/2011 Watched THE RITE (2011) last night with Anthony Hopkins and Colin O'Donoghue and directed by Mikael Hafstrom. Although it was a little slow paced and sometimes a bit dramatic, I thought it was a good horror film. The story was good, the filming was great, and Sir Anthony playing an exorcist is worth the price of admission. Makeup department deserves kudo's for a fine job. Also, Alice Braga, Sonia's niece, did a nice job as the journalist.
AUDITION6/5/2011 Put myself on tape for the Fincannon's for the role of RETIRED SOLDIER for the new Charlotte series called HOMELAND starring Claire Danes. A regular on a series shooting in Charlotte would work...hello?
AUDITION5/24/2011 Auditioned on tape last night for the series DROP DEAD DIVA as JUDGE THURBER which shoots in Georgia. We shall see...
BLUE VALENTINE5/16/2011 Watched BLUE VALENTINE (2010) last night and enjoyed the interaction between Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling as a struggling married couple with flashbacks to their courting days. The movie is sad and sweet and came across as very real. I found I was very interested in the characters and their outcome as well as their getting together. Derek Cianfrance, who wrote and directed, tells a good story of romance and then the slow decline of a relationship that doesn't want to break apart, but ultimately does. The final few minutes culminate with now and then sequences that are very powerful. No flash, but great story telling.
DAY JOB / ACTING4/30/2011 Yikes! It has been a long time since I was here. My day job is keeping me busy. Finished training yesterday and so go on a schedule starting Monday. The down side is that this week alone I turned down three auditions...sad. But the bills must be paid! This too shall pass...
Day Job4/8/2011 Start training on Monday with a company called Red Ventures as a salesman in their call center.
AVENUE Q4/8/2011 Saw a touring production of AVENUE Q last night at the Knight Theatre. Very funny and twisted show utilizing puppets. Think Sesame Street on an acid trip. A lot of social commentary interlaced with some good songs, a talented cast, and a very nice set. The story revolves around "Princeton" who moves to Avenue Q to live and work on his own only to face unemployment, relationship issues, and "what is my purpose in life" thoughts. All this while being exposed to a cast of characters that already live there and the luggage they carry.
AUDITION4/3/2011 Have an audition tomorrow for Food Lion commercial and being considered for a Belk commercial as well.
